Patient Resources
Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) offers patients benefits over traditional open techniques: less pain, shorter hospital stays, minimal scarring, reduced recovery time, and less injury to tissue. MIS is continually being refined, updated and improved so that these benefits can be achieved without compromising quality or outcome of care. Until now, because of technological limitations, surgeons have been performing complex MIS procedures using two-dimensional (2D) vision, viewing the surgical field in two dimensions while their hands work in three dimensions. The Viking 3DHD Digital Vision system now offers these surgeons the 3D vision they are accustomed to in open surgery but in a minimally invasive surgical environment.
