Business Strategy

Viking Systems is building its solutions through product development, targeted acquisitions, and international business alliances. The Company will offer these solutions through a global sales and distribution network.

 

The Company established the Vision Systems Group in Westborough, MA with the acquisition of Vista Medical Technologies, Inc.’s visualization business. This group provides a proprietary three-dimensional surgical image technology and a digital platform for surgical information delivery (Infomatix™). Other acquisition targets currently include optics, digital imaging, sensors, surgical robotics, and image management products or companies.

In order to create a complimentary suite of products and build a strong brand, Viking acquisition and partner targets should possess the following characteristics:

  • Products or services that enhance a surgical team’s capabilities and performance
  • Products with industry transforming potential and the ability to be adapted into Infomatix™, Viking’s integrated information infrastructure
  • Products that have received regulatory approval for U.S. and/or international distribution
  • Strong intellectual property portfolio
  • Sustainable revenue of $500,000 to $10 million
  • Current management and technical leaders willing to continue working with Viking in order to ensure continuity and smooth transition

Product Summary

Viking Systems’ key products are the 3Di Vision System and the 2Di endoscopic vision platform. These new generation systems are engineered to provide the standard of care for complex, minimally invasive surgeries. Through the patented Personal Head Display (PHD), these systems provide an immersive field-of-view for the surgeon and surgical team, as well as a digital information integration platform, Infomatix™. Viking’s solutions are assisting surgeons today in a variety of minimally invasive procedures including urologic, gynecologic, bariatric, pediatric, cardiac and neurological surgery.

 

Part of Viking Systems is Viking Medical Technologies (VMT), a strategic visualization partner (OEM) for several leading medical device manufacturers. As these business partners continue to shift to minimally invasive techniques, VMT intends to introduce new services and capabilities to respond to this important business segment. Viking Systems is committed to the growth of its OEM business and believes its engineering capabilities and advanced technologies make it an ideal partner of choice.
